TRIUMPH 2000 MK1

An Englishman dressed in Italian style

OVERVIEW

The Triumph 2000 Mk1 is a mid-sized family car which was produced in Coventry, England by the Triumph Motor Company between 1963 and 1969.
Designed by the well known Italian designer Giovanni Michelotti, one of the most prolific designers of sports cars in the 20th century. His notable contributions were for Ferrari, Lancia, Maserati, BMW and Triumph.
The 2000s were fitted with one of the best 6-cylinder engines Birts ever made, with twin Stromberg carburettors and a power output of 91PS.
Those days the 2000s were competing with the contemporary Rover P6 2000 which initially was offered only with a 4-cylinder engine. Together the cars defined a new market sector in the UK, promising levels of comfort and luxury usually associated with larger Rover and Jaguar models, but with usefully lower running costs and purchase prices, all in a modern package.

Built on 16th September 1965, our extremely rare Mk1 is a Virgo. Virgos’ goal is to be perfect in everything that they do, and they get frustrated when they see that that is not possible.
But there is nothing impossible for our big Triumph. Built-in “New White” with “Midnight Blue” interior, it maintains its factory specs as the day it left Coventry. Drives like a dream, ideal for long distance trips, can accommodate easily 4 adults in its spacious interior.
